13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. Matthew 24:13
Today’s verse comes from a passage in Matthew that is a declaration of what is to come during the end times.
By itself this can be a sticky subject for some, sometimes we have a hard time imaging Jesus coming back (and if I’m 100% honest it can be traced back to me not feeling like I’ve done what I want to do here on earth yet)
When we start to have these thoughts, that’s when we start to live by the mantra, “live each day like its your last day.”
From the worldly standpoint this means eat cake for breakfast jump out of airplanes and do anything you want to do.
From the Godly standpoint this means love each other graciously and generously. Give to the poor, the sick, and any one less fortunate than you (because you can’t take your money with you), and perhaps most important is to share the gospel of hope with others.
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”[f]
Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done. Proverbs 19:17
The world encourages you to be selfish, but God encourages you to be selfless. (especially if it costs you something).
12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. Matthew 24:12-14
It saddens me that there will be many false prophets and many people will leave the faith, but it also reminds me that it is more important than ever to stand firm in your faith until the very end.
Friends please join me in standing firm in the gospel, and not allowing our love to grow cold for one another.
