31 Days of Standing Firm

Stand Firm: You are Free

design (37)

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1

Do you ever have those things in your life that you seem to give over to God and then immediately take it back?

You know they are completely out of your control, and there is nothing you can do, yet you allow the burden to overwhelm you and the anxiety and fear to paralyze you.

How many of us can honestly say that we truly walk in the freedom that Christ gave us?

So many places in the bible talk about this freedom, but in order to truly understand the freedom we walk in, we need to understand the extend we were enslaved.

At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. Titus 3:3

11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. 13 Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. 14 For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace. Romans 6:11-14

Essentially you can serve one master, and you can’t serve more than one at the same time, so you are either serving your flesh (sin) or serving the Lord.

Standing firm reminds us of the sacrifice that Christ made for us.

Our freedom isn’t free, but we weren’t the ones that paid the price.

Choosing freedom from the sin of our former ways isn’t easy. Whether it is depression, anxiety, an addiction or just pride we struggle with, it must be a continuous constant decision to choose Christ.

Everyday and in every way.

do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Notice that it says “let” and “again”, who you were before doesn’t matter because of Christ you will never be that way again. Stand firm and know that Christ set you free!

I’m posting a link to one of my favorite Christian music videos below, one of the main lyrics is, “I’m not longer a slave to fear, I am child of God!”  Amen!
