He Remains Faithful

Fruit of Faithfulness Series: Day 10

God’s faithfulness isn’t contingent upon our faithfulness to Him. Instead, He continues to be faithful even when we are faithless.

We are in week 2 of the #fruitoffaithfulness challenge, and this is often the point in time where it starts to feel difficult. This is when we have opposition but the enemy has began to notice that we are doing something something different, and because we are human, born sinners apart from God, we have the tendency to live for ourselves instead of of for God. God knows this and understands this and guess what, He loves us and is faithful anyway.

Today’s verse comes from 2 Timothy 2:13

if we are faithless,he remains faithful,for he cannot disown himself.

Of course this verse alone is powerful, but let’s take a look at it in context:

11 Here is a trustworthy saying:

If we died with him,
    we will also live with him;
12 if we endure,
    we will also reign with him.
If we disown him,
    he will also disown us;
13 if we are faithless,
    he remains faithful,
    for he cannot disown himself.

This trustworthy saying is faithful. It is true and it is reliable. It is a reminder for us to remain in Him and he is faithful.

Sayings are usually something catchy. They are somewhat like slogans, kinda like, “Take a penny earn a penny” or “Everything happens for a reason.”

What is your favorite saying or inspirational quote?

We need to have nuggets of wisdom that help us to get through each day. While we have scripture verses, it is important to also have other reminders also.

Sandwich scripture in between inspirational sayings.

I think that the verses above can be summed up in John 15:4:

Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. John 15:4 (NASB)

The fruit of faithfulness cannot grow apart from God.

 if we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot disown himself.

Faithfulness from God is not earned, it was bought for a price. The price of Jesus Christ. As part of the body of Christ, you were bought for a price and you are not your own, you are His.

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

So because His spirit is we can still choose to remain faithful. Faithfulness comes from abiding in Christ and choosing to continue along that path.

Daily challenge:

Today I want you think about your favorite quotes or saying you’ve heard. What verse or verses also come to mind when you think about that quote? We can have direct scripture in our arsenal for when the enemy comes, and we can also have quotes surrounding the scripture to buffer against false truths we might be tempted to believe.

If scripture is the main star then inspirational  quotes  are the supporting roles.

I would love to hear which main star and supporting roles play a part in your story called “Life”?
