Introduction: Fruit of Faithfulness Series: Day 1

I am taking a challenge starting today until October 31 to write EVERYDAY for each day in the month of October. I am super excited about doing this, a little nervous, but mostly excited!

What is the Write 31 Days Challenge?

This is something I just found out about after #Shespeaks16, and I’m so glad I did! I am joining several other women from all over the country (maybe even the world) to write consistently for 31 days on a topic of our choice.

What does this writing challenge have to do with me?

Well it has alot to do with you! It means that you will hear from me consistently, everyday (weekends included) for 31 days. So those of you that enjoy my writing and wish I wrote more, you will now get daily emails from me with the new post related to the 31 day series!

What is your series about?

I’m so glad you asked! the #fruitoffaithfulness series will be exploring the word “faithfulness” in the bible. It will be looking at examples of the faithfulness of God in the bible as well as verses that contain the word “faithful” in them.

Each post will contain a personal example of the faithfulness of God in my life, and also a daily challenge to you (I’m doing a challenge, so I figured I’d invite you to do one too!)

These challenges will provide you a practical way to apply the daily verse and questions for digging deeper.

I believe in application of scripture and these challenges will give you that opportunity!

I will give you a challenge starting tomorrow, but for now here is the verse of the day.

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Galatians 5:22-23 (NLT)

According to John Ritenbaugh:

“In Greek, every modern translation renders the word that the KJV translates into “faith” as “faithfulness,” “fidelity” or “good faith.” In his commentary on Galatians, William Barclay writes, “This word (pistis) is common in secular Greek for trustworthiness. It is the characteristic of the man who is reliable” (p. 51).

The Hebrew word rendered “faithfulness” is emunah, which means “firmness,” figuratively means “security” and morally means “fidelity.”

The English usage of “faithful” teaches us much that is practical. A large number of synonyms can be related to it, which give understanding in more specific situations.

Synonyms of faithful include: dedicated, steadfast, devoted, dependable, accurate, true, conscientious, dutiful, careful, scrupulous and thorough.”
